Yizhou Shen is currently a PhD student in Solid Mechanics at Northwestern Polytechnical University. He received his M.S. degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University in 2022 and his B.E. degree in Aircraft Design and Engineering from Nanchang Hangkong University in 2019.

His research interest lies in unconventional wave and vibration phenomena in elastic structures. By integrating concepts from mechanics, physics, and structural design, he develops meta-materials, structures, and surfaces to achieve unusual and highly tailorable dynamic behaviors, including wave guiding, localization, conversion, and other anomalous effects. He is also interested in the fundamental mechanisms behind these phenomena and their applications in low-frequency vibration mitigation as well as high-frequency acoustic and micro/nano-scale devices.
